5 Roads, Footpaths, Cycleways and Bridleways

5.1 General

The Contractor shall submit to tie, The City of Edinburgh Council, Lothian and Borders Police and the Emergency Services a statement setting out the proposed measures (including specified traffic routes) to be taken with respect to traffic and road safety for the duration of the contract, for approval before the relevant work commences. The Contractor shall circulate the approved statement to other bodies identified by The City of Edinburgh Council.

The measures to be taken with respect to traffic and road safety shall include but not necessarily be limited to:

a) Use of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs). The Contractor shall consult with tie and The City of Edinburgh Council on the arrangements for agreeing and implementing Temporary TROs to facilitate road closures etc. The use of Temporary TROs shall take into account the requirement for, and availability of suitable alternative routes.

b) Use of temporary signing and lining where required by The City of Edinburgh Council to identify places where construction is taking place.

c) Use of temporary signing to restrict vehicle type/sizes and define routes for construction traffic.

d) Use of appropriate temporary signing and lighting wherever works are in progress to ensure the safety of all road users.

e) Preparation and implementation of a programme agreed with The City of Edinburgh Council for road closures and temporary traffic signal arrangements.
